Stars on the red carpet at the 18th Annual Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards in Los Angeles January 29 unveiled a variety of new hair trends inspired straight from the runway at the recent Paris Haute Couture fashion shows. See how you can recreate some of the most innovative looks here.

After recent appearances at catwalk shows including Christophe Josse, braids made a big impact on the SAG red carpet in varying forms.

Glee star Dianna Agron integrated a fishtail headband into her plaited updo, while The Big Bang Theory's Kaley Cuoco added interest to her tied-back locks with a fake headband braid.

Cougar Town actress Busy Philipps French-braided just the front of her tresses and kept the rest loose, while Australian star Renee Bargh teamed her headband plait with a wavy half up/half down do.

Also coming straight off the catwalk was the 1950s-inspired quiff, which had been seen at recent presentations by On Aura Tout Vu and Chanel.

Stars including Jayma Mays, Natalie Portman and Zoe Saldana all made small nods to the trend and Tilda Swinton proved it works just as well on shorter tresses, sporting a bouncy side parting.

But it was actress Amber Heard who took the quiff high rise to accompany her voluminous updo.

Another popular style on the SAG red carpet was retro Hollywood waves, with tumbling curls seen on the likes of Glee's Heather Morris, Spanish actress Paz Vega and Stacy Keibler.

Outstanding Female Actress in a Leading Role winner Viola Davis encapsulated old school Hollywood glamour with her Marilyn Monroe-style bouncy curls, while her The Help co-star Jessica Chastain sported a retro side sweep and loose waves.
