Transport movement on Dhaka-Munshiganj road remains suspended since
Wednesday morning following death of a school boy in Munshiganj town.
Sharif
Hossain, 14, a Class-V student of Indrakpur Primary School was crushed
under the wheels of a bus on his way to school around 7:15am, reports
our Munshiganj correspondent.
The barricade was going on till 10:45am when this report was filed.
Angry locals also vandalised two vehicles and set fire to the bus that killed the boy.
Abul
Bashar, officer-in-charge (OC) of Munshiganj Sadar Police Station, said
angry locals put barricades on the road around 7:30am and vandalised
two vehicles when a Dhaka-bound bus of Inter-district Bus Owners'
Association hit Sharif near Krishi Bank square of the town.
Sharif, a son of one Samiruddin Milky of Nayagaon village of the town, was going to school riding a bicycle.
Immediately
after the accident, locals managed to catch the driver of the bus and
handed him over to police after a good beating, the OC said.
They also set ablaze the bus, the police officer added.
The locals later brought out a rally in the town demanding punishment of the driver.
Ayub Ali, the helper of the bus, was driving the vehicle in absence of its driver, the OC said.
